There is a brilliant scene in The Devil Wears Prada where the editorial team shares ideas for the next edition of fashion magazine, Runway. At the suggestion of a floral themed spread by one nervous staff member, editor Miranda Priestly turns on her. "Florals for Spring?" questions a dead-pan Meryl Streep? "Groundbreaking."
Despite Miranda’s protests, florals are neither dull nor just for spring. Injecting florals into your Autumn wardrobe – whether it’s a statement flower or head-to-toe delicate prints – is a great way to hold on to the last moments of Summer.

I love soft tailoring and suited and booted is one of my favourite looks as we creep into August. Style these feminine florals as Zara have, or strip back the look and pair with a lace cami and pair of heels for a look that will take you from board meeting to the bar.
3. Floral print lace maxi dress – £30
Weather-dependent, maxi dresses can be a tricky one to get right this time of year. For me, it’s all about layering and dressing up or down with the right accessories. I love a beaten-up pair of Converse and a denim jacket for a day round the shops, or some strappy heels and a top knot for a night out. If you’re not a floral person by nature, then this piece from New Look can be a great way to approach the trend without going all-out.
4. Floral embroidered silk dress - £2,420
As you might be able to tell, I’m a huge fan of Gucci and think they’ve completely owned the trend this summer. This isn’t one for the wallflowers but the mix of textures – wool, silk, embroidery – are ideal for any season, just add a pair of black tights… or not.
